Freddie's Mistake

Let me tell you about a friend of mine.
Out of respect, I’ll keep his identity covered.
Let’s call him Freddie.
Freddie's Philosophy
Freddie believes the spirit controls the body.
If the spirit is strong, the body will follow.
In his view, obsessing over food and health is missing the point entirely.
And honestly? I don’t completely disagree with him.
I do believe the spirit is above the body.
But here’s the thing about miracles — they tend to show up for people who are already making better decisions. Already choosing life. Already paying attention.
Think about buying a second-hand car.
What do you want to see?
That it runs well. And that it’s been looked after.
A car with a good service history doesn’t get that way by accident.
Someone cared for it.
And the person who cares for their car — that usually tells you something about the person too.
What I’m pointing at is this: there are indicators.
In cars. In companies. In people.
And those indicators — good or bad — can show us exactly what’s coming if we’re willing to look.
Freddie's Story
So. Back to Freddie.
He’s in his mid-50s. Overweight. On blood pressure medication.
Many people would say that’s perfectly normal at his age.
I’d say it’s average.
And today’s average is well below what normal should be.
To his credit, Freddie could see something wasn’t right.
So he did something about it.
He cleaned up his diet completely. No junk food. Every meal prepared at home. Low in carbs — sometimes animal-sourced only.
He stuck to it for three months.
And the results were remarkable.
His belt tightened by several notches.
His doctor halved his blood pressure medication.
His thinking sharpened. His energy returned. He felt genuinely better.
And then… he STOPPED.
Just like that — he went back to his old diet.
Now, his blood pressure is still holding with less medication.
But the weight came back.
The mental clarity is fading.
And slowly, quietly, he’s sliding back to where he started.
What Freddie Missed
So what did Freddie miss?
He felt better. His doctor reduced his medication. His body was clearly responding.
Those weren’t coincidences.
Those were indicators.
His body was telling him, clearly and measurably, that what he was doing was working.
But he didn’t read it that way.
He read it as: “I’m fixed. I can go back now.”
If Freddie ran a company, he’d never ignore the data like this.
No business leader looks at improving numbers and says, “Great — let’s go back to what we were doing before.”
They’d say: keep going, fine-tune it, build on it.
But when it comes to our own bodies, we do this constantly.
We feel better, so we stop.
We see results, so we reward ourselves by undoing them.
And somewhere underneath all of that is a very human need — the need to be right.
To justify the things we’ve always done.
To prove that our old habits weren’t really the problem.
We’d rather be right than be well.
Until we can’t anymore.
The Formula
I don’t want that for Freddie.
He’s a good man. A good friend.
And I don’t want it for any of you either.
Because I consider all of you friends.
So here’s what I’ve come to believe — a simple formula that cuts through the noise:
One: See things as they actually are. Not as you want them to be. Not as you fear them to be. Objectively. Let the indicators speak.
Two: Keep learning. Not obsessively — but consistently. The more you understand your body, the harder it becomes to ignore what it’s telling you. And the more you realise there are options you never knew existed.
Three: Give your body the right materials. The right food. The right nutrients. The right support. A body that’s well-supplied makes far better decisions than one running on empty.
Now, look.
Last time I spoke to Freddie, he was proudly telling me about his holiday.
Sweetshop to sweetshop. Cakes and treats from morning to evening.
He was beaming.
And I smiled and listened.
Because he’s not ready yet.
And you can’t force someone to be ready.
But for those of you who are — who can feel that something needs to change, even if you’re not sure what — I want you to know this:
- The cravings aren’t a character flaw. They’re a signal.
- The tiredness isn’t just age. It’s information.
- The brain fog, the weight, the reliance on caffeine and painkillers and antacids — those are indicators.
And indicators can be changed.
That’s what we’re here for at Primo Vitality.
Not to tell you what to do.
Not to pile on more fear or confusion.
But to help you read the signs — clearly, simply, honestly.
So you can make decisions that actually make sense.
A Final Thought
Stick with us. Do the things that make sense. And try not to let emotions drive the bus.
Your body is already talking.
Today’s a good day to start listening.
Thank you for being here — and I’ll see you in the next one.
